Today we welcomed MEP Marc Angel and his team, who wanted to learn first-hand about the
BCN Checkpoint model. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase our work in prevention, detection, and support in sexual health, as well as the importance of community-based efforts in the response to HIV.
This meeting is part of the preparations for the gathering promoted by the HIV Prevention Alliance, which will take place on November 18 at the European Parliament. The goal is to identify the main challenges Europe faces in reaching the target of reducing new HIV diagnoses by 90% before 2030, compared to 2010 figures.
Despite the progress achieved in recent years, this can be threatened by global factors such as the blocking of funds for HIV/AIDS programs, which is already having serious consequences in the form of millions of new infections and deaths in the Global South.
Today more than ever, it is time to defend what we have achieved and renew our commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
